I came for my birthday tonight. Mom had pollo señora. It was the juiciest chicken that literally melts in your mouth. Enchilada dinner was tasty as always. Huge burgers! Great apple burrito desert. All food and drinks tasty! Excellent waiter and service. They all sang happy birthday to me making the night extra special.

I love la bamba. It's a simple place but the food is authentic! Palomila steak with chimichurri sauce is amazing!!!! Plantains are on point, rice is fresh, food comes out hot. They have mexican, Cuban and spanish dishes on the menu. They also have 3 dining rooms but they fill up fast. Great place for a large group. They also have good prices

Great margaritas and drinks! Complimentary chips and Salsa. Monday and Tuesday they offer all day margaritas for 2.50! The bartenders are always kind and welcoming. I dont understand why people complain about parking when it's complimentary. The restaurant pays the valet you choose to tip or not. There is a lot of parking in the back but with a tight curve that I can easily see causing a lot of accidents on a busy weekend. I'm sure that's why they pay to give their customers valet service

I've eaten here for 10 years. I'll tell you what, it's gone downhill. They have added 4 bucks to most meals. The service is spotty. Seems like they hire their bratty relatives to work there. I just brought home three soft tacos. My guest says "This is the meat?". Theres barely half a taco worth of meat. Pathetic. Decline been going on for a couple of years.

Good service. Good plentiful and good. Had shrimp fajita and good but not amazing. Good family place.

Pretty good place. My chimi was really good. Husband ordered something and it was more like roast beef than a Mexican dish. I'd come here again if I was in the area and had extra money. Drinks are not cheap.

I've been going to La Bamba in Broward for years, and was happy to see this location in Delray but no. No. Not too many words. The food was yuck! Fish tacos so bad, even my dog wouldn't eat them. Rice is weird. Service super nice! So two stars and desserts at least standard for La Bamba. Still love them all! Please reconsider the standard perfect ingredients/recipes used in Broward.

Love their food! The Pollo a la Plancha is on point! Thr Palomilla Steak is delish! They have top notch soups that come with your meal. My fav is the cream of cauliflower! You also receive all-you-can-eat tortilla chips and salsa as an appetizer!

The cheapest quality food. Awful service. You need to drink a lot to enjoy this dive.

There's a reason no matter the time or day that La Bamba is always packed with a full dining room...it's an excellent restaurant! My family and I have been going to La Bamba for years now and the food and service just keep getting better and better! It is the best Mexican and Spanish restaurant in the area and worth traveling for if you want authentic food, great service, and a wonderful evening. The portions are large and come with sides. The menu is reasonable and affordable. Worth noting is the quality of their chicken - whether on nachos, in a burrito, or in fajitas, their chicken is delicious and flavorful white meat. My favorite dish is the Supreme Fajitas which includes chicken, steak, and jumbo shrimp for $19. The chicken nachos are also excellent! Everyone in the staff at La Bamba from management, waiters, and bartenders are friendly, efficient, and are always on the lookout for their customers.

The Quesadilla was average at best. We ordered take out food and when I opened the box it had One Quesadilla some hot sauce and refried beans. No Sour cream or guacamole. The taste was good but very plain. Food Taste : 5 Presentation: 5 Staff : 8 Cleanliness : 8 Overall : 7

If I order palomilla steak, I do not expect cubed hamburger steak. Stop serving me small cups of salsa in disposable ketchup cups. Is this a togo only joint? The quality of the food is so poor I am surprised that this place has a line. The only upside to this place is the margaritas are strong. Avoid this one folks

Oh heavenly place! The rope vieja... amazing! The rice and beans, plantains, pork... everything I've tried; just yummy! Surprisingly, the tuna melt/quesadilla thing is pretty darn tasty! Never thought to merge those things, but wow. Fresh, hot tortilla chips and housemade salsa greet us, along with a super friendly staff. I must say, I was impressed. I'm just sad I don't live nearby. I do know I'll be going back any time I visit again!

  • Lauren M.

This place was pretty standard as far as Mexican food goes - the food was yummy simply because most things smothered in cheese or sour cream are tasty, but there was nothing at all unique about it - except for the mariachi dolls in the restaurant entrance (the one without an instrument actually dances).

The valet is awful! Just rude - we should be able to parkour own cars.

We came here for lunch during the Cinco de Mayo weekend. I heard horror stories about the parking lot so I was surprised that we found plenty of open spots. I thought they would be busier during the Cinco de Mayo weekend but we got there around two on Saturday. Late lunch early dinner. Maybe we missed the lunch crowd. The margarita was ice cold and delicious. It was probably one of the best I have had. The chips were fresh & both the hot salsa & the mild salsa were yummy. Since the portions are always huge at La Bamba we opted to share the combo fajitas that had both steak & chicken. The fajitas were excellent. We asked for the veggies to be well done & they came out perfectly. Our waiter was good & he was funny as hell. I have been going to the La Bamba in Margate for years. I love the Margate location. I never had a bad meal or bad service in Margate. I prefer to sit in the bar area & in Margate the atmosphere is a little more lively. A bit darker & more of a Mexican vibe. This was my first visit to the Delray Beach restaurant & I was not impressed with the atmosphere in both the dining room & the bar area. The bar was brightly lit, no people hanging around except for two or three elderly men sitting at the bar. I think they had a TV playing but I really can't remember. It was sort of depressing. We ate in the dining room. I did not feel like I was dining in a Mexican restaurant. Although the dining room was clean it was outdated & very plain. I even remarked to my friend that I felt like I was at an Applebees or Olive Garden. No ambiance at all. It was sort of depressing. The food and service were great. But I will stick with the Margate La Bamba.

I have been to the La Bamba in Margate many many times over the years and the food was great and the service was fantastic... Thought it would be the same in Delray...very disappointed. The food was great..the service was TERRIBLE. The waitress was not knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, or courteous. Will not be coming back here. She was just that awful.

I'm surprised about the bad reviews on this place. I've always had a good experience here and the food is always delicious. I go for the tex mex food and always leave super full and happy. I recall the service always being good as well. The only negative is the parking lot is really small. If there's no available parking, which normally there isn't then you have to valet park. So far this is my go-to mexican tex mex restaurant.

La bamba La la la la la bamba! My mother used to take me here when we were craving Spanish food when I was younger. The only thing we ever ordered was the Masa de Puerco, which is what is sounds like - chunks of deep fried pork. I highly recommend dining midday during the lunch special. Prices range around $8-9 and entrees come with either soup OR a soft drink. The tortilla chips are served promptly with both mild and hot salsas. The plate of Masa de Puerco was enormous. Came with large side of some very tasty white rice, black beans, and maduros (sweet plantains). The chunks of fried pork was topped with a bed of raw onions and a line wedge on the side. Maybe in the past I've ordered something else but you really can't go wrong here. With both Mexican and Spanish cuisines offered, La Bamba is one of my all time favorite restaurants in south Florida.

I grew up going to the La Bamba in Plantation and it seemed to be our go to spot for consistently good food and service. This location definitely is a runner up. The restaurant itself is huge and was packed from the time we arrived until we left. They offer complimentary valet parking which was very nice since it was so crowded. Our waiter was slammed with tables but he was on top of refilling beverages and took our orders right away. I really like that they offer 2 kinds of salsa with the complimentary chips and salsa. The hot was amazing! Not make your nose run spicy but had a good kick. Two of us ordered a Mexican combination dinner but did not get the tacos in our order. Since our server did not bring out our main dishes he could not have caught the issue. Not his fault at all but unfortunately we never got to eat our tacos since they finally arrived 20 minutes later with our bill. I was really looking forward to eating mine but we had already been there for over an hour and everyone else at the table was done eating. The rest of the meal was decent though and my friend had ordered the pork chunks with black beans and rice and loved it. With so many great Mexican restaurants around I don't see myself rushing back to this location. It's not that it was horrible but just not my favorite. They do have a great happy hour and our server was extremely friendly so I'm sure I'll give them another shot one of these days.

I had chicken nachos and lots of drinks! When I say they make them strong, I'm telling you, you're getting your money's worth. The staff is amazing and friendly and are willing to cater to your taste buds. The group I was with goes here all the time and I can understand why. I got the frozen strawberry margarita as well as the frozen mango margarita. It was delicious. The less sweet but also delicious is the blue long island. After 2 drinks you are pretty much out there. I enjoy the atmosphere and it's just enjoyable to get a few drinks after a long day.

Food and service were terrible! The salsa was decent, the margaritas were decent, but the rest of the meal was awful. The cheese dip seemed like melted cheddar cheese, not like actual queso- said it had chorizo in it, but never tasted it. The chicken flautas that I ordered were covered in a greasy cheese sauce, never had flautas like that but it was gross and over cooked. Not to mention that my food came out a good 7-10 min AFTER the rest of the table. Other members of our party ordered mixed fajitas, to which the meat was dry, as well as the tortillas. The tortillas looked like Mission tortillas from the grocery store that had been over cooked. The kids food was awful and I didn't even let my son eat the chicken fingers we ordered because they too were WAY over cooked, and didn't even really look like they were chicken. Our waiter was overworked and had way too many tables, so we got crappy service. Being from Texas, I can't even compare this to Mexican food- it's not even on the same scale. My advice- save your money and time! If you think this is true Mexican, you are mistaken on what Mexican food really is!!!

I love their mild chunky salsa. This location is very busy for early dinners. You will wait.

The experience at La Bamba is spectacular from when you walk in the door and are greeted to the time that you leave. There is something on the menu for everybody their variety on entrees keeps you coming back for more. The variety of drinks is amazing as well. Margaritas are a given, if you prefer beer they have several types of beer on tap and in a bottle their is a full bar so your options are endless. None the less when you visit this establishment you will see that it's friendly enough to have a nice family dinner or maybe a nice place for a date. In conclusion La Bamba is an outstanding restaurant to visit for great food and a nice time.

My favorite mexican place in south Florida. I love the Chile relanos and love the fried icecream even more!!

Food had no flavor. Quesadilla had only cheese. Boring no flavor. Palomilla had no flavor either. Frozen margaritas were good. But won't be back.

Staff is very friendly, took a bit long to get our food but then again we went on a busy Friday night. The food was a bit too greasy for me but the rest of my party really enjoyed theirs. I would def come back here but perhaps chose a different item on the menu.

4 stars for South Fl, 3 stars overall. SoFla is not the best place for Mexican food. I've had great Mexican food in Cali and San Diego has some awesome spots. I've even taken the Tijuana Trolley across the border and had great Mexican food with a Zonkey (Not misspelled, it's a donkey w/ zebra stripes painted on) parked out front. I drank margaritas because I did not want the revenge of Montezuma (yeah right) but I digress... The food here is good, some Mexican, some Cuban food. Done well, a little bland for my taste, generous portions, lunch specials won't leave your wallet thin, but it will tighten your pants! Didn't have any alcoholic beverages so I can't help ya there, but again for South Florida its very good. I enjoyed my Mexi-lunch, I'll go back!

Has gone down hill. Saddest part is no one even cares. When I told the waiter it was so so he just ok and walked away.

    (2)
  • Liz J.

Food was pretty good. Service slow. Saw waitress repeatedly drop the ice scoop back in the ice machine and I pretty sure that's against health code. She handles menus and dirty plates. I then asked if I can have cups with no ice. Yikes. No outdoor seating but a nice empty large patio out front that they should use. It's south Florida and the weather is amazing so I would go here again if they had outdoor seating. The prices were very reasonable so that would make me think that's why there was a decent wait on a Sunday at 6.

love this restaurant!!! onky negative....they nickle and dime you!! best fajitas!!! but...... charge for extra sour cream...extra tortillas...... side jalepenos...... pennywise and dollar foolish!!!!

Possibly THE WORST Mexican food I've ever had. Yuck. Food was without taste, chips were stale, salsa was awful, nachos were horrible. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere!

We love it here! No complaints about anything. Service is always great no matter how busy they are. Food is always delicious and hot! Our go to Mexican restaurant when we're in town from NJ. Keep up the good work.

Service was slow and uncaring. Chicken was dry. Dining area was dirty. Bathroom was - trashed. I wouldn't eat here again. I will give them this - it was very well lit. I just felt like they didn't care much.

We had lunch here today. The food is usually good but today was not the best. My husbands meal had a metal wire in it. They claim it was from a twist tie but it is very alarming. They remade him a new meal but he wasn't able to enjoy it and took it home. They took his meal off the bill but I feel they could have done more since this was really dangerous. My fajitas were a bit burnt as well.

Very impressed with the dinner menu and great prices! Love the vet parking as well. I wasn't sure about this place since I've driven by and seen an empty parking lot but not the case last night! It was packed inside and out!

    (4)
  • Brandon B.

I love the food and service. I hate the fact they make you valet for a $30 dinner out for my family. It would not be so bad if I didn't watch employees taking all the spots in the front to force you to valet. We tried to go last night but when there is no spots we go somewhere else. I do not mind valeting my car but in this situation it bugs me when I watch an employee take a spot instead of me getting it.

Not only is the service completely on point but the food is never disappointing. I moved away but every time I visit South Florida this is one of my go tos.

We adore La Bamba!! After living in Delray for ten years and being obsessed with Mexican and Spanish food I can tell you that discovering labamba was a relief and a pleasure. We go at least once a week.

    (5)
  • Tony T.

I would call it American Mexican..... I had the steak fajitas and it was more like beef stew. Way too waterd down. It was like the beef is precook and sits in a warmer tin. The chicken fajitas were good.... Tender chicken. Guacamole was really good and salsa was a bit watery and not so chunky as salsa should be. I wouldn't say no to this place but would look elsware for real Mexican food

    (2)
  • Kristina R.

Chicken fajitas are always good! As are the chicken Flautas and Beef Taco Salad! Don't forget to get dessert! The fried Ice Cream is my favorite! Hope everyone enjoys as much as I do! Yummmy! Also important is the service and here it is always great. I've never had a problem! Everyone is very friendly and always coming by an asking how everything is and if you need anything. We have been coming here for years and will defiantly keep coming back!

If you want an authentic Mexican meal and you are in Palm Beach County, there is no place else to go. The food is not as hot and spicy as it would be in Texas or southern California but it will do. The shrimp creole is delicious as is the La Bamba combination platter (chicken enchilada, chile releno and beef taco). La Bamba has better food and is less pretentious than the below par Rocco's Tacos. The place gets crowded around meal time and the valet parking is a must. I wholeheartedly recommend La Bamba when you need to have Mexican food.

  • Roxana J.

Delicious food, good service, and great margarita specials. My family and I came here during the lunch special and I ordered the Ropa Vieja that was out of this world! Will definitely return in the future.

    (4)
  • Melanie R.

The food was VERY good. Big portions, hot and fresh out of the oven, just delicious! I'm dropping a couple stars because the margaritas were sub-par, very tart, even the strawberry one I got... Then again, the margs were on special for $2 each (Mondays and Tuesdays), so I'll that 4th star back in. Great food at a good price. Just remember, don't expect too much from a $2 margarita.

  • Stacy A.

My fiancé and I come here about once a week. We love the food and the organic margarita! The only down side is that the parking lot is a little small.

Good food, great service. Can easily see why this place is always busy. Best Mexican food around. Most dishes are very tasty and good portions. Been there many times. Highly recommend.

  • Aaron S.

Disgusting. Disgusting. Disgusting. First off, I walk in and get stares from all of the employees with no reaction to my presence whatsoever. It honestly took almost 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me, and I was only there to pick up a to go order. Next, I get my food, and it simply is not my order. But instead of them offering to make what I ordered, they give me an extreme attitude and argue with me claiming that I am a liar. Eventually I did get my correct order. But when I got home it was half hair. I am convinced this was done on purpose. All of the employees are lazy and downright rude. The restaurant itself is dirty, and the atmosphere is incredibly uninviting. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. And I have reported them to the better business bureau, as well as the palm beach county health department.

I cannot believe that my husband hadn't brought me here ever since we moved down here 4 years ago. He gets La Bamba catered at his work and he raves about it all the time... making me jealous. So finally, on Saturday around 5pm, he brought me out to the restaurant which he hadn't been to yet either. Parking was awkward so we decided to get valet parking which is complimentary, unless you want the VIP parking (I don't know what's the difference) for $5. Though the restaurant looked busy, we didn't have to wait long as we were immediately escorted to our table for 2 people. The ambiance was a nice contrast to the rainy weather we were experiencing that evening. The waiter, Jose, was nice- asked us what we'd like for our beverages, and brought out three small bowls of tasty housemade salsa with one spicy (my favorite) and a warm basket of fresh unsalted tortilla chips, yum! I ordered the La Bamba Combination (One chicken enchilada, one Chile relleno- and a beef taco served with yellow rice and refried beans) and subbed the beef taco with chicken taco instead as I don't eat beef, and also a side of guacamole. My husband ordered Steak de Puerco (A grilled boneless pork steak topped with sauteed onions served with white rice, black beans and fried ripe plantains). We waited approximately 20 minutes for our food to come out, no problem waiting that long because it usually means the food is made fresh! The portions were huge! My plate was delicious looking, the enchilada and chicken taco were simple but perfect to top with the guacamole, rice, beans, and the spicy salsa. I did not find them salty as I prefer low-sodium which is great in my book! But I was disappointed with the Chile relleno, I never had one but the thought of a poblano pepper stuffed with cheese, dipped in an egg batter deep fried, topped with ranchera sauce and melted cheese had sounded good. But when I got it, it looked like a stuffed pepper mushed inside of an omelet. It wasn't very good. I'll remember to skip that the next time. My husband enjoyed his plate and I tried some of the yummy onions and fried plantains... delish! Like I said, the portions are huge, we could only eat 1/3 of our plates! So we requested for to-go boxes to take home the rest of the yummy stuff- except for the relleno which I knew we wouldn't care for at all as leftovers. Later that evening and the next day, we had the La Bamba leftovers and it was still just as delicious as it was at the restaurant! Overall, we paid roughly $40 for both of our meals plus a soft drink and coffee. We tipped the valet guy $2 for bringing us our car. We definitely will be coming back! *Also if anyone knows El Toreo in my hometown, Valdosta, GA- this is just like it!

Delicious Mexican food. My favorite dish is the masas de puerco (fried pork) that comes with beans and rice. The ultimate margarita on the rocks is the bomb ( has grand marnier ) which adds kick to the average margarita. The spicy salsa is super spicy which I love and everyone is very attentive friendly and always very helpful. I love going here on Sundays in the bar area which is a slower day but it's still a warm inviting atmosphere. Fridays are busy so you will have to valet because parking is limited and the parking spaces are tight. Food is worth it though and the people are great!

    (4)
  • Lisa W.

The chips and salsa are amazing! Even better....they are free! The salsa is better than any other I've had. If you still have room for lunch after binging on chips and salsa, La Bamba has great lunch specials. The food is delicious and their portions are huge. If you haven't been, you need to go. See Rene at the bar, he is awesome!

Too my most pleasant surprise this Mexican restaurant was one of the best I've been to. First off I had a craving for chicken wings , happens..lol Who would have thought that the wings there were one of the best I've had . First off I hate those tiny wings that after 10 of them your like "really, your joking that's what this place known for wings serves, over done soggy 3 inch pieces" well this place had big wings great sauce and perfectly crispy on outside tender juicy on inside. I went with my good friend and 2 kids. With appetisers , wine and food enough to take home for lunch the bill was 78 bucks and well worth it. We had chicken and steak fajitas ( you can totally split one order for 2 people ) tacos quesadilla . HERES THE DEAL IF YOU GO ON WEEKEND, mAke reservations I'm not sure if they take them but go at 6 or earlier or late because the 70+ crowd fills the place like white on rice . Menu is huge, you ask and they will custom order anything. Great staff and service

  • Richard M.

The food was just slightly better than OK, but the restaurant is drab and dingy looking. We arrived shortly after 7 on a Tuesday. The "self"-parking side had only a dozen spots...all filled. We were forced to use Valet and waited about 10 minutes before getting the ticket. Customers were trying to leave at the same time so I cut a little slack, but I looked and saw that the valet side was huge with several empty spaces. Just another way to get more money from the customer. I'm not anxious to go back.

  • Shane A.

I wish the food wasn't so damn good because I'm getting fat! The best Mexican around. You can tell everything is extremely fresh and the chicken is pulled right off the bone. Great margaritas and on Tuesdays they have great specials. I'd go there just for the salsa!

    (4)
  • Robert G.

The food was okay. I am spoiled though, having grown up in the desert southwest and have always been around amazing Mexican food in Arizona. If you are desperate for Mexican food, La Bamba will get you through. The service was only so-so. And for some strange reason, if you order fajitas the tortillas and accompaniments come WAY in advance and you are sitting there staring at the warm tortillas getting cold while you are wondering where the rest is...

    (3)
  • Brandi S.

Sometimes we get great service, sometimes we're like ghosts to the staff. However, they do have some unique flavors and make some dishes so well, we'll keep coming back for lunch as long as we're in the area. Things I go back for: Pollo a la Plancha, is a juicy and flavorful chicken breast, paired with black beans (or even ask for black bean soup instead if you like it.) Guacamole is good and fresh, and the chili con carne with a twist is great as well. If you're a drinker and love Mexican and Spanish food, they do have a bar and some drink specials nightly, but bring friends because the atmosphere is kind of stale and the entrance hall is usually musty.

The best Mexican Food in south Florida Chips and salsa is always fresh I usually order the cheese enchiladas or fajitas - both are great choices At times - Service could be a little slow but the food makes up for it. Been going to La Bamba for over 25 yrs

Good food I've had dinner here a dozen times usually with a party of 5 or more. Good service. The parking situation needs to change. I dont like to valet, and there is only 15 spaces in the front lot. The hundred spaces in the rear are all valet only. That is ridiculous would give 4star if they were more reasonable about parking.

  • Steve G.

Attentive service backed up by quality food. Great salsa and nacho chips to start. Most of our party ordered the pollo a la plancha. A nice sized chicken cutlet not dried out. Tasty black beans and rice with well made maduros. Side of guacamole was tasty. I had the chicken burro and it was loaded with well prepared chicken in a tasty sauce. Re fried beans were also good. ¡Buen provecho!

This is the best "Tex-Mex" meal I've eaten since I left Texas 30 years ago. The ground beef enchiladas, rice & beans were fabulous! The service people were very friendly. I'll be eating here every time I visit my DelRay Beach relatives. Valet or self parking available. Thanks. Jerry Jones

What do this restaurant and a psychic have in common? They're both mediums. The food is fresh but a total yawn in the picante department. That's spicy for my fellow gringos y gringas. It's sort of Mexican, sort of Cuban. The Cuban is better than the Mexi food although they have good fajitas. You won't die here and they make nothing to die for. If the service is good it's kind of Luby's meets Lucitas.

Went here after we had decided it was good day for Mexican eats. from the outside the place looked promising. Upon entering I was a little taken back by the overly Mexican decor, with sombreros and bright, tacky paintings of cacti, etc. But everyone seems friendly enough. The dining area seemed fairly clean. One of the first places I look is on the ceiling fans. The carpets seemed OK. and the fans were clean. Silverware was spot-free. The server was presentable and pleasant. The chips and salsa was more than adequate. One thing I noticed about the very busy menu, was that, unlike most Mexican food, there seemed to be more than the mandatory ingredients ( lettuce, tomato, meat, rice & beans). There were various seafood options, styles of beef and chicken, and more than the usual taco, burrito & fajita preparations. We had opted for a starter of chicken nachos. Although tasty, I was amazed at how proud they must have been with these as the $8 price tag is a little steep. But they were devoured even though the request for more hot salsa went unheeded. One of the more impressive entrees that we had was the crab chimichanga. It was indeed stuffed with crab as described on the menu, although they could have done without the 'ranchera sauce'. It was more than ample in size, in fact, there is so much crab in this thing, ya kinda get sick of it 3/4 through. Good though. My personal entree was the Carnitas. The pork was dreamily tender and flavorful with awesome pico de gallo. The included tortillas, not so good. It may seem inconsequential, but how can a Mexican restaurant service tortillas that are all stuck together and rock hard on the edges? Obviously, the cocina chico forgets things in the microonda. The ONE thing they should do right is warm a freakin' tortilla!! The other two entrees at our table; chicken chimichanga and some beef thing, were OK. but forgettable, apparently. Overall, food was middle of the carretera, and service about the same. Maybe next time.....

The food was average. Not the best Mexican, but definitely good. The service, however, was amazing. Happy hour was 1/2 off and the sangria was delicious. The fajitas were too much food to finish. I definitely recommend trying this if you are in the area and like Mexican. And I will definitely be back next time I am in the area. Also - ask for Pedro - he is extremely helpful and nice. Great waiter!

Love this place. Their cheese dip tastes amazing with their chips. We always get quick service & the wait staff is so sweet. We go there so often one of the waiters knows our name. Their food & service has never disappointed.

My cousin says she is really picky about Mexican Food so she wanted to take us here. I was skeptical at first because this is coming from someone who's never heard of Carne Asada. I wasn't sure if Mexican cuisine was something she really knew about. The meal started off with complimentary chips and three types of salsa which is my favorite way to start a Mexican meal. I ordered the Crab chimichanga it came with rice and I had them replace the beans with plantains. The crab chimichanga looked good on paper but it was too salty for my taste. The rice was too hard but the plantains were really tasty! Even though I didn't enjoy my entree I will give them the benefit of the doubt and just blame it on picking the wrong entree. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food.

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid and never once has the service or food been any less than exemplary. It does get crowded on weekends but you're never waiting for long and it is completely worth it. The portions are large and for a great price. You couldn't ask for any more.

We've passed this place a gazillion times and finally decided to plan for lunch here. Overall, a 2.5 is how I feel about this place, but am rounding up to a 3 even though that's considered A-OK. I'd rather give them a C-OK. My husband and I met here for a late lunch (2:30pm) on a Wednesday, and were shocked to see the parking lot so full. Yes, they do have valet, but I was in a major hurry to get in and out of there in 45 minutes, so didn't want to wait for the valet service. We got lucky though and took the last 2 parking spaces, but they were tight squeezes. Some people have complained about the service, but our service was really good, hence the rounding up to a 3! We were greeted upon arrival, seated immediately, and our server was very friendly and personable each time he visited us. As for the menu...meh. I mean, it was just like a chain restaurant menu. I don't understand why such great reviews on the menu. We've traveled to Mexico 12-15 times, yet La Bamba just seemed like any ol' Mexican place. My husband's fish tacos were good, not great. I had the La Casa Quesadilla sans the bacon. It was ok...but pretty skimpy on the cheese, mushrooms and onions. For $7-$8 there are too many other good Mexican options in Delray to settle for La Bamba.

I've been to the La Bamba in Margate and always have been a fan. I've always wanted to check out the Delray location. We went during lunch and it wasn't packed so we were attended to right away. The best part about going during lunch is the lunch menu which has great deals on items that are typically pricier during dinner. The palomilla is my favorite and the lunch version is just as filling as the dinner version (at least for me). A fave spot for me, I'll definitely be back!

Pretty good Mexican restaurant that is popular with the older crowd in Delray Beach. The fresh chips are a nice appetizer, the menu selection is huge, and the food is consistently good quality. I like the simple grilled chicken with a side of rice, plantains, and a salad. They actually have valet parking here.

My expectations were met for the mexican lunch yesterday. As I pulled up, I noticed that the parking is limited and I didn't check out the other side of the building. I thought it was only for valet, but my friend told me it wasn't. Anyway, the building is smaller than the one in Palm Beach Gardens. I heart the awesome lunch specials they offer. It includes a soup or a soft drink (no refill) with a decent portion of an entree. I settled for a cheese quesadilla with refried beans. I finished almost all of it. They even took the buy one, get one free coupon I had, even though they told me they couldn't do it for the lunch special menu. I will be back to test out the margaritas and yea, some more food ;) La, la, la, la, la, la, bamba!

In a nutshell: Food = Pretty good all things considered. Service = Bad, quite bad actually. I came here with my friend expecting a pleasant experience. Instead, we got great food, one good margarita, one very disappointing margarita, and terrible service. We were unsure of exactly what to eat, so instead of keeping the server waiting, we decided to order what we were sure of, and order the rest later. For that first order, we asked for something to be substituted and a margarita. We received said item and nothing had been substituted. Upon bringing that to his attention, we did get a small bowl with the item we wanted. That was nice, but it's like ordering coffee with soymilk, receiving coffee with regular milk, and then being given a small cup of soymilk on the side. The refried beans were beyond mixed into the dish during the cooking process. There was no way to remove them... Anyway... I'll stop going on about the service before this turns into a rant instead of a review. I'll just say that it does get worse with "I don't know" answers to questions about items, complete nonchalant attitude about our incredibly subpar second margarita (which was brought to his attention multiple times), lack of refills until after the check, and a vibe of "I don't care" all night. We left a bad tip which was better than no tip. The food was damn delicious though. So yeah, if you want pretty good food and willing to risk getting bad service, go for it. I should add... I did not see the other side of the building, but the parking lot was quite small. They did have a valet though, but I don't know if it's free or anything. I will add that the interior was spacious and well lit, which was nice.

I had gotten some recommendations from friends about La Bamba, but never had the opportunity to try it until tonight. Since I have lived in central and southern Mexico for quite some time, I have an excellent perspective on what authentic Mexican food should be. This experience left me completely unimpressed. The service was good, but nothing special, and the entryway smelled really musty. Dirty carpet everywhere, and the decor is horribly outdated. The salsa and chips were fresh, and very tasty, and the beverages suitably prepared, as they should have been considering the price tag. The young lady who served us had never tasted the one menu item that I consider the acid test for an authentic Mexican restaurant: Brown Mole (Mole Poblano). It was on the menu as being served with a portion of chicken, but I asked for the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, and a cup of brown mole on the side in case one was bad and the other good. Turned out to be a waste of time. My wife ordered the chicken flautas. Both plates arrived smothered in cheese as is the norm in substandard Mexican restaurants. The plates were so nearly identical it was hard to tell them apart just by looking because of the way they were prepared with the same cheese, salsa, rice and beans arranged more like stew on a plate than a real Mexican entrée. Most people like it here because the average American will gobble up anything smothered in cheese. For the life of me I can't understand why people think that's real Mexican cooking. Get a clue, folks! The chicken in the enchiladas was passable, but only slightly better than what they serve at Señor Burrito, which is utterly nasty. At least it didn't appear to be canned chicken like we were served at Don Julio's a few months ago. The sauce was unremarkable, but inoffensive, so I ate about half of it before I got tired of it. The beans were soupy and bland, and the rice relatively flavorless as well. The worst thing was the cup of mole. Good mole usually has some spiciness and a nice, finely ground, thick texture, with a good, reddish brown color. This stuff looked like bad, runny, slightly lumpy chocolate pudding, and while it had a very light spicy flavor, it was really not at all good. I tasted a spoonful, then put some over rice, but it was definitely not authentic. It appeared to have a significant amount of corn starch used to thicken an unknown mix of spices, rather than actual ingredients from a serious mole. I didn't detect any of the typical mole flavor that one would expect. I could have bought Doña Maria mole at the grocery store and it would have come out MUCH better than this. My wife didn't even want to taste it because it looked vaguely repulsive. I don't know why we bothered to bring the leftovers home. Don't waste your money, this place is for pedestrian tastes only. For the same money or less, you can get a much better meal at Las Fajitas or Tacos Al Carbon.

This place is a favorite among my inlaws. now visiting, they took us to La Bamba. they ordered the chicken fajitas, i had the steak fajitas and my daughter gas the kids taco. Although portions are big, every dish came very very salty. I went through 3 waters before half my dish was eaten. The kids taco is fried, you should make sure to get it not fried as it was very oily. I guess the value is good, didn't have a problem with service. But I would probably order something with less salt next time.

OK so this was an odd restaurant experience to say the least.... So here it goes. We had a nice meal, good service and walked out with big belly's. We walked outside to find a torrential rain storm so I thought thank God I valet parked my car. I gave my ticket to the young man and expected him to pull my car around under the overhang so my family wouldn't get soaked. For whatever reason the restaurant doesn't allow the valet to bring the cars around under the overhang. The valet guy parked my car right outside the awning where rain was pouring off the roof right in front of the driver side of my door. The valet driver was no where to be found so I was forced to walk through what seemed like a waterfall to get into my car so I could pull it around to pick up the rest of my family. Needless to say I was furious with the lack of customer service, awareness and thoughtfulness exhibited by the valet. I walked in to speak to the restaurant manager about this situation and better understand why they have a silly rule where the driver isn't allowed to bring the car under the overhang especially during a rainstorm. The manager was apologetic, but seemed like he didn't get what I was saying and not exactly present. I would have expected to be communicating to an individual that would be somewhat articulate so that we could have an intelligent conversation about what just happened. I would expect a much more elaborate apology than a blank look and a muttered "I'm sorry". Not that La Bamba is a 5 star restaurant, but I think it deserves a higher caliber manager. Next time we will go to Rocco Taco's in Boca. We might pay a tad more, but at least we would be dealing with better staff and more upscale ambiance. Again, like I said the food was good and the waiter was fine, but my goodness you guys need to tweak your customer service at the valet stand and have better communication from management. I should note that this experience was on 8/24/2013 at 9pm.

I am not entirely sure why, but I am a fan. Way casual with a elderly early bird crowd. The Mexican food is ok, I like the Mexican pizza and taco salad. The Cuban food here is actually really good. Try the pollo a la plancha and black beans ... Wow! Also margarita pitchers are super cheap.

I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened!!! Best friends of mine used to work there.. My family and I used to be regulars there. The prices are great and the food is WONDERFUL!!!! The food comes out SUPER quick! So I recommend not putting your order in right away if you get appetizers. They will try and rush you but don't let them. I always take some time to enjoy the salsa and chips! I love those things! I always order the Palomilla Steak AMMMMAZZZING!!!! I will keep coming here as long as it is open!

This is great Mexican comfort food, pure and simple. No matter the location or time of day, La Bamba never lets you down. We stopped in for a very late lunch today and watched the playoff game at the bar. La Bamba's fresh salsas and warm chips are first class. The hot salsa has a real nice bite. The chicken quesadilla and beef chunk burrito were both large and very good! But they were actually surpassed by the very potent and flavorful El Don Margaritas prepared by our outstanding server Norma. So, remember La Bamba--not the Alamo-- the next time the craving for good, solid Mexican food hits you. There are five locations around the area to choose from.

My best friends from Boca chose to take us to La Bamba. They knew how great NYC food is and said Boca is full of chain restaurants but there is a little Mexican restaurant that gives us a run for our money. La Bamba was delicious with HUGE servings. I love Mole sauce and I love Enchiladas so I always get the mixed enchiladas place with Mole sauce. YUMMERS! We had great service with plenty of soda refills. Now we have another stop to go to when we head to Florida.

Food is food but overpriced. Not really worth the money. Good ambience. Quantities are huge! Parking could be a pain since they have limited . Whats even worse is you have to pay $5 for the valet parking. I went with a bunch of spanish friends and they didn't "love" the food but they said it was "ok".

  • Hallie P.

I have lived down the street for decades and La Bamba has stayed open in a location that no other restaurant could. That has to say something! I think their food is tasty, for what it is. The amazing part is their margaritas! Blended with strawberry puree, to die for. I feel like it is hard to find a good blended margarita. They go perfect with the fresh chips and salsa. My mom says the food leaves her feeling "yuck" afterwards. If you stick with the carna, pork or steak, with rice, beans, and plantains you will avoid the cheese and all that heavy stuff. My brother, on the other-hand, used to frequent so often that they included them in their holiday window paintings. (A large 'oso blanco" named Tyler, haha.)

I for one am not really big into mexican food. But, when I saw that they had a crab chimichanga, thought I would give it a try. Well they should have said that this chimichanga could have fed all of us at the table, but otherwise it was very delectable! I just couldn't finish it. The ambiance was a little bland, but who am I to critique how a restaurant should look like?? Anyway, it was an ok place. No big complaints.

I would give them 5 stars but I came from Colorado & my fave mexican food is in CO and the southwest states. However, this place fits the bill when I need my mexican fix. We always sit at the bar which is always busy and has a good group of people. The staff is nice but a bit slow but that's so "manana"!! The rellano is great and so are the fajitas. Not as extensive of a menu as I would like but it'll do fine. By the way, they have Dox XX Amber on tap...SCORE!!!

Love La Bamba! Have been coming here for about 6 years and the food quality almost always is on point (almost always, I can recount a few bad experiences). I always get the chicken and steak fajitas, or el loco burro with chicken, both are great. A few complaints as to why I didn't rate 5 stars 1) parking (or lack there of)... plan on waiting.for a spot unless you want to valet 2) service could use some improvement but I've never had too bad of an issue 3)PRICE!! Food is expensive here ! (I live in Miami so I'm use to food being over priced but I mean if you get fajitas you're looking at about a 20 dollar meal with drink and tip ontop) 4) sometimes when you get fajitas at a busy hour they give you less food than at a not busy time

Really enjoy this place. Their guacamole is the best I've had besides my own. Great salsa and chips. Everything I've had here is very good. Believe it or not, my fave dish is their awesome hamburger! Great place for group lunches - one of the favorites for my work buddies and me...:)

From the outside you would never think its a pretty good restaurant, but past the dimly lit entrance is the best mexican food in Delray. I've been here twice and had both the enchiladas and tacos. Both were decent. The tortila was soggy and they went really light on the sauce. They were packed full of flavor but both plates felt like the waiter left them waiting for me under the heating lamp.

Not very good. Rather just go to Taco Bell for cookie cutter mexican. They should of located this restaurant inside Kings Point, there must be 5 near fatal accidents in front of this place each day.

I have been to many Mexican joints far from the border, close to the border, and actually across the border and can declare that my #1 choice for where to eat Comfort Mexican Food is La Bamba. I added the word "Comfort" in there because there are some authentic Mexican meals that I have enjoyed unavailable at La Bamba (i.e. Fresh Ceviche served ocean side), but when it comes to the meat, cheese, beans, and some kind of tortilla combination, they are spot on. There are 5 different locations, and I have been to all but one of them over the last 20 years. I don't actually have a favorite one because they all offer the same thing-consistency. It's always a casual, family friendly environment, with the Mexican and Spanish meals tasting the same each time and adequate service (nothing over the top, but they get the job done). Each La Bamba location has its fill of local patrons, which don't seem to mind the peak time dinner wait that often occurs. Should you find yourself placing your name on a list for a table, help yourself to one of the delicious margaritas, like the frozen banana one, at the bar. These house specialty cocktails (or any frosty beverage) are the perfect match for the complimentary chips and salsa that are served as you are seated. This first taste of their food will hook you in, with a duo of freshly made salsa (mild and hot) and the warm, crispy tortilla chips. Filling yourself up on chips and salsa (and in my case a side of guacamole) is pretty much the La Bamba ritual, but once your meal is served, a miraculous force you will come over you, enabling you to dig right in. I can almost guarantee that no matter which La Bamba entrée you order, there will still be food left on your plate. The portion sizes are huge and the leftovers taste pretty darn good reheated, whether they are from the Mexican or Spanish portion of the menu. I wish I could lead you in a direction as to which of the two is better, but they both have a lot of winners. On the Mexican side, I really love the Beef Burrito, the Taco Salad with Grilled Chicken, and the Tuna Melt. Yes, I said Tuna Melt, which is under the "Appetizer" section of the menu and resembles a quesadilla with tuna salad inside of it. Actually, all of the quesadillas are excellent. If you're looking for a Spanish (primarily Cuban style) meal, you won't be sorry. The dishes are prepared with authentic, plentiful flavors and each one has a heaping serving of rice, beans, and plantains to accompany the tender pieces of meat. If you need some help narrowing it down, I recommend the Ropa Vieja (beef), Pollo ala Plancha (chicken), or the Masa de Puerco (pork). Whether you are dining at La Bamba during their dinner rush or taking advantage of one of their weekday lunch specials, be ready to leave full and satisfied without having to spend a lot. Throughout the years, the menu prices have crept up, but dining at La Bamba is still a very affordable way to get your Mexican food fix. Note that the Delray location offers complimentary valet as their primary means of parking your car.

A pretty decent lunch. Your typical re-fried beans, chips and salsa, covered in cheese Mexican joint. $2 margarita's on Tue. I think?? And they were actually good! But.......the service here or at least from the the waiters SUCKS! On two separate occasions I have had a rude waiter and waitress. Whatever. Cheap lunch where you can have a little alcohol to make you tingle!

Bienvenidos! Michelle & I were in the mood for some South of the Border food the other night so I suggested we stop in at La Bamba on West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. I have been here many times in the past and have never had a bad meal. La Bamba is a small chain with five stores in the Broward/Palm Beach area. It was about 8:30pm and getting a table immediately was not a problem although the place was pretty full. When I passed the "Specials of the Day" billboard I found out why: Margaritas on Monday and Tuesdays for $1.99. Wow! Can you beat that? Once we were seated, chips and three bowls of salsa arrived stat! Two cups of mild and one of "el scorcho." Michelle ordered the La Bamba Combination which came with a chicken enchilada, a chile relleno, and a beef taco served with yellow rice and refried beans. She couldn't get over how good the enchilada tasted. I had the Enchilada Plate which comes with two enchiladas, yellow rice, and refried beans. The enchiladas can be ordered with chicken, shredded beef, or ground beef. This time I chose the ground beef and substituted black beans for the refried but stuck with the yellow rice. I dumped the remainder of the "el scorcho" over the enchiladas to take them up a notch. "This place has delicious food, why haven't you taken me here before?" Michelle said as we were boxing the left overs for another meal. All I could say was hhhhhmmmm and changed the subject. But we will return to eat here again. La Bamba gets my recommendation when you have an urge for some "South of the Border" fare. Check out my blog for more restaurant info.

Definitely some of the best Mexican food in the area. (I lived in Texas for 19 years, so I've had some experience) Friendly and efficient service. Don't miss the $1.99 Margaritas on Mondays and Tuesdays! Now I'll address some of the other complaints: If you have a special request (like not so much cheese), then make it. The wait staff and kitchen are very accommodating. Yes, the parking lot is mostly valet during the dinner hour. Believe me, with the plethora of septuagenarians and octogenarians that are still driving in Delray Beach, you WANT the valet parking the car next to yours.

I had the Steak Burrito and my wife had the Chicken Fajitas and couple of Margaritas. We have eaten here for lunch, but for some reason never stopped for dinner. Prices for dinner were around $13 each and the drinks were $6. The food was much better than the last lunch we had. I could not believe how good the steak was and how much they put in. I was expecting the thing to be packed with other stuff and almost no steak, but they filled it up! At night there is not much regular parking, only Valet. We lucked out and got a spot, otherwise we would have to stand in the line to wait for our car.

Went for dinner. Free valet parking is nice upon arrival. We were seated quickly and welcomed by our waiter. The salsa and chips they they give you to start with was ok. I had the steak and chicken fajitas and it was a big portion (i couldnt finish it all) and was tasty. My "date" had the ropa vieja which came with plantains and he really enjoyed it. My brother and his wife had a combination of burritos and tacos which came with rice and beans and lots of cheese. We all ordered the margaritas (which are $1.99 each with a dinner entree on Monday and Tuesday nites). You can choose from lime or strawberry for the special (we choose strawberry whereas they are made with real fruit). The food is very good for "American" style Mexican food. Of course it is not real Mexican or the type that you can find in certain US treasures like down in the heart of Texas. Prices are good ($14 for steak and chicken fajitas, $16 for steak, chicken and shrimp). Its a good place to bring a group of friends for a casual dinner and margaritas. Not sure if we would seek this place out on any other nites besides a Monday or Tuesday thou.... But it definitely beats Chilli's!

The food here is OK. It's not authentic mexican food by any means but it serves its purpose as a fairly priced nice atmosphere mexican restaurant. The reason for the 2 stars is the terrible service. At least try and pay attention to the food and drinks.

    (2)
  • Cooper P.

This place is fun to go to on occasion, but nothing spectacular. The food isn't great, and I much prefer to just eat the chips and salsa and order an appetizer. Their margaritas are excellent though, and this is one of the main reasons I go back. The parking here is absolutely ridiculous if you should decide to go on a weekend. They don't have very many spots open, so if you should get there and the tiny lot is full, you then have to valet which is annoying. Why open a restaurant in a location with limited parking and then force your guests to valet? We hardly ever carry cash on us, so that causes a problem for tipping the valet.

We came mid-week at about 7:00 PM. Two adults and two teenagers who LOVE good mexican food and La Bamba did not disappoint on that count. Unfortunately the service was awful! We waited for a long time just to place the order which came along in a timely manner once it was placed, and then our waiter disappeared,... I'm not kidding, the guy up and vanished! Finally a passing waiter took a second drink order. We then waited 20 minutes for the check. Given the quality of the food, it's really too bad they can't get their service act together.

  • Scott A.

This place is bad. The wife is Mexican so we know good mexican food and this place is not it. They smother everything with cheese and the sauce is not authentic tasting at all. The service was not very good and the parking is awfull. they give you around 10 spots to park in that are always full and there is no street parking so you are forced to Valet. I normally give a place a second shot so we went back and just sat at the bar and had margaritas and appetizers and it was bad again. The drinks were not bad but the food was bad again. Oh well what can you do?

I love this place, the atmosphere is great as well... The salsa is the best around, it's hard to beat it... I get the pollo alla pancha (s/p), so good!.. I've been to all the locations as well, just as good!...

I love this place! Whatever I get is always good, and hot. Its probably more American Mexican which I like but to each his own. We'll be there tonight. I don't think I've ever had a problem with a waiter and I've been going here since they opened., long time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
